The role of the College Archivist is crucial for maintaining organisational efficiency, accountability, and for preserving an understanding of college life through the management and retention of its personal, corporate, and social memory.Please refer to the attached position description for more information.ABOUT YOUYou are a passionate archivist with a deep appreciation for Sacred Heart College’s rich heritage and Catholic traditions. With strong expertise in archival management, preservation, and cataloging, you understand the importance of maintaining records as both historical treasures and essential resources. Organized and detail-oriented, you ensure the College’s legacy is preserved with accuracy and care.Collaborative and community-focused, you actively engage with staff, students, alumni, and families to curate and share the College’s story. Whether managing records, supporting research inquiries, or creating historical displays, you are committed to making the College’s history accessible, celebrated, and safeguarded for future generations.KEY SELECTION CRITERIAEssential:Qualified or be willing to undertake a qualification in Archives, Records Management or in a similar field from a recognised tertiary institution Eligible or be willing to become a Professional Member of the Australian Society of Archivists A thorough understanding of best practice in archives and records management procedures Possess experience in appraisal, arrangement, description and sentencing of records Knowledge of preservation and conservation principles should know, or be willing to acquire a working knowledge of curriculum standards Experience in a similar role, with excellent time management and project management skills Excellent verbal and communication skills Possess a high level of computer literacy Operate autonomously and with initiative and flexibilityExcellent administrative skills, including a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail A high level of integrity and discretion in accordance with the Australian Society of Archivists Code of EthicsDesirable:A current Victorian Driver’s licenceThis position requires a current Police Check, Working with Children Check and drivers’ licence.Classification is ESS Category C Level 3 in accordance with the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022.
