We're not all lawyers, but we work together to support the legal profession and ensure a just society for all.We are currently looking for a full time Legal Support Manager to cover a period of parental leave for 12 months.About the teamThe Legal Regulation Department is responsible for the investigation/resolution of complaints, regulating solicitors and protecting the public through investigation, prosecution and education.About the roleThis is a high-quality support role that provides administrative support to the Director, Legal Regulation and oversees the day to day administration for the Legal Regulation Department and manages the Administration team. You will be the primary point of contact for administrative issues including members of the Legal Regulation committees, the Legal Services Commissioner and internal and external stakeholders.What you'll be doingIn consultation with the Director Legal Regulation, create, implement and maintain administrative processes, systems and procedures for the Legal Regulation Department to ensure efficient allocation of work, workflows, working standards and practices.Monitor the implementation of those processes, systems and procedures by developing effective reporting on the allocation of work, workflows, working standards and practices, and work to continuously approve that reporting in consultation with the Director.Supporting the Director to oversight risk management frameworks and work health and safety issues with the Department.Provide executive assistant support to the Director, Legal Regulation, and provide support and governance for the Legal Regulation Department management team including coordinating meetings and papers.Oversee the day to day management and supervision of the Administration team.Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to the administrative work of the Department.Take responsibility for secretariat support to the committees of the Department including compiling agendas, collating apologies and leaves of absences, collation of reporting members, minutes of meetings and communicating key information.Maintain the Legal Regulation Department precedents and resources including its library and loose-leaf services.Take responsibility for obtaining and collating statistics from the Society’s database and preparation of the Annual Report, monthly and other reports for management and legal officers.Take responsibility for the timely and accurate entry of information into the relevant database and systems and the generating of monthly reports. About youCompletion of a Certificate level qualification with relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.High level communication skills, sound interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to exercise sound judgement and problem solve.An ability to balance competing demands in a high volume and fast paced environment.Ability to practice open communication, lead by example and effectively provide honest and constructive feedback.Ability to plan and organise self and others to ensure the completion of tasks and to manage and support others to succeed in their roles.Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with e-mail and internet applications and data base applications and experience using programs, such as MS Office.Demonstrated ability to contribute ideas and initiate new ways of working, showing enthusiasm for project work and special assignments.Able to maintain sustained level of concentration in a volume processing activity to ensure accuracy and identify errors to be addressed.Display a commitment to quality client service, values the supplying of accurate and timely information and relates to people from diverse backgrounds.Ability to work under pressure, be flexible and adaptable.Ability to work as part of a team as well as work autonomously.Adherence to confidentiality. To applyThe Law Society of New South Wales is committed to building and maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace, appointing the best person for the role and supporting diversity. Applications should contain a CV and cover letter that outlines your key experience and motivations for this role.
