As Southeast Queensland’s only co-educational primary Grammar school, Ipswich Junior Grammar provides a high quality, non-denominational education for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6. It shares a campus with Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School, which caters for girls only from Years 7 to 12, with boarding available from Year 5.

THE OPPORTUNITY
A short 30-minute drive from Brisbane, our vast, heritage-listed campus is conveniently located in the middle of Ipswich. We offer the opportunities of a large city, with the quiet feel of a smaller town.
The School is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated Music Teacher to join our close-knit academic team. This is a permanent, part-time role commencing 2025 with a minimum of 0.8 FTE and the opportunity to undertake additional relief staff hours to support planned and unplanned vacancies.
This role will primarily support junior school music classes on a permanent part-time basis, so the ability and your experience to teach in these year levels will be key to your success. Additional qualifications/experience in Instrumental and/or other Arts disciplines (Dance) looked upon favourably, but not a requirement.
You will work as part of an energetic team committed to excellence and the provision of an effective teaching and learning environment for students. This includes the delivery of teaching and learning programs within the frameworks in place in the School; fostering a supportive classroom climate which enhances student growth and confidence; and maintaining accurate records as required.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience developing and delivering a comprehensive Music academic program, and
- eligibility to work in Australia with relevant teaching qualifications and current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Queensland College of Teachers.
- demonstrated capacity, skills and/or experience teaching within a Junior School environment.
- be passionate about teaching and enriching the learning experience of students.
- have demonstrated experience in teaching Junior School level music within the Australian Curriculum.
- differentiate the curriculum by employing a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with instructional objectives, to meet the needs of all students.
- experience monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on student progress within the curriculum area, using data analysis to inform classroom strategies for student development and improvement.
- the ability to develop confidence and self-esteem in students and to act as a role model in presentation, action, and communication.
- strong interpersonal skills, with highly developed organisational, communication and administrative skills.
- ability to participate in grounds’ supervision on a regular rostered basis.
- ability and willingness to contribute to the School’s highly regarded cocurricular program
