Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School including Ipswich Junior Grammar School offers high quality, non-denominational education to students from Kindy to Year 12 (co-education from Kindy to Year 6, girls only Years 7–12). THE ROLE
The Co-curricular Arts program is a vibrant department of the School which supports the artistic endeavours of our student cohort. We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Vocal Music Specialist Instructor to provide vocal tuition (private individual and/or group lessons) to students at the School.
As a Vocal Music Specialist Instructor, you will:
- Prepare and deliver music tuition in your area of specialty (voice)
- Monitor, evaluate and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records
- Deliver vocal tuition within the frameworks in place in the School
- Foster a supportive co-curricular Music environment that enhances student growth and confidence
- Prepare students for music presentations throughout the year such as Assemblies, stage performances and Eisteddfods
This role involves a commitment of approximately one day (with the potential to grow) of private tuition per week, with instructors invoicing families directly for their time. The recommended hourly rate aligns with QMTA rates, currently $87 per hour.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Hold Teaching and/or Performance qualifications in Vocal Music from a recognised university or college
- Demonstrate skills and experience in teaching voice to students in private and/or group settings across various age groups
- Have expertise in a range of vocal styles (e.g. contemporary and classical) and techniques
- Be able to plan and deliver engaging vocal lessons that maximise learning outcomes for students with diverse abilities and interests
- Be eligible to work in Australia and able to obtain a Working with Children Blue Card and/or registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
Experience in choral direction or vocal ensemble leadership would be desirable, but not essential.
