To do this, we have strong commercial partnerships and innovate with non-traditional ventures, such as our Essendon Education Academy and EFC Investment Fund, so that we can deliver world class events, give back to our fans, run community programs and ultimately, strive toward our next premiership.  About the roleReporting to the Head AFL Physiotherapist, the AFL/VFL Physiotherapist will work within a physiotherapy team to provide a world class service at the Essendon Football Club. Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary department the role spans working across the VFL and AFL mens’ programs. The AFL component will have a strong emphasis on exercise prescription and coaching whilst the VFL component on general physio duties and injury management.The AFL/VFL Physiotherapist is expected to demonstrate strong communication with key stakeholders and operate within the direction of the Head Physiotherapist. Key accountabilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:Work closely with the squads developing players on achieving a benchmark criteria to establish robust and well informed athletes in line with their development programs.Attend VFL training sessions and game’s including practice matches Injury diagnosis and management: provide accurate diagnosis and prognosis of player injuries in collaboration with the club medical staff and coaches. Conduct player physiotherapy treatment as required.  Plan and implement effective injury management and rehabilitation programs in consultation with the head physiotherapist, high performance and medical teams. Endorse a ‘return to perform’ approach to injury management that considers both the psychological demands of football.  Provide regular communication and a high level of transparency with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Head physiotherapist, Head of High Performance, Rehabilitation Coach, football coaching group, medical staff.About youAs the successful AFL/VFL Physiotherapist, you will have a desire to learn and develop whilst remaining in touch with cutting-edge and world-leading physiotherapy practice. With experience working within an elite sporting environment, you will have the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.Essential criteriaBachelor of PhysiotherapyCurrent AHPRA registrationDesirable (non essential)Sports Masters degreeExperience in an elite sporting environmentExperienced & qualified in PilatesACSA QualificationYou will also have:Strong communication skills;Attention to detail in coaching and exercise prescription;Skilled with hands on manual therapy and assessment processes;Creativity and initiative;Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with both the playing group and other key stakeholders within the organisation;The ability to develop and implement effective injury mitigation strategies;The ability to record professional notes and maintain an effective injury management database;Consideration for the welfare and holistic management of a player in the context of the wider football program; andStrong work ethic and a preparedness to work irregular hours according to the demands of professional football.The PerksOur work doesn’t always fit the 9 to 5.
