About the Role
Are you ready to make a real impact in local government procurement? We’re looking for a proactive and skilled team member to step into the Procurement Advisor role, reporting to the Strategic Procurement Manager.
This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future of procurement across councils - including the City of Charles Sturt and City of Marion. You’ll be at the heart of a collaborative team, driving innovative procurement strategies that deliver best value, transparency, and compliance for a diverse range of goods, works, and services.
As Procurement Advisor, you’ll work closely with stakeholders from the councils to:
- Develop and implement forward-thinking procurement plans that support shared objectives and deliver measurable results.
- Champion best practice in contract management, risk mitigation, and supplier engagement.
- Foster strong partnerships and knowledge-sharing across council boundaries, ensuring procurement solutions are both locally responsive and strategically aligned.
- Lead the way in continuous improvement, helping to refine processes, systems, and reporting for greater efficiency and impact.
- Support and develop procurement staff, building capability and a culture of excellence.

Key Focus Areas
- Strategic Procurement Leadership:
Lead and coordinate procurement activities to achieve Council’s strategic objectives through sourcing best value goods, works, and services.
Develop and implement procurement systems, policies, templates, and procedures aligned with legislative and statutory requirements.
- Contract Management & Compliance:
Establish contracts with appropriate legal protections, KPIs, and performance management frameworks.
Monitor and evaluate compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and related legislation, making recommendations for process and governance improvements.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
Work closely with internal stakeholders and across three Adelaide councils to deliver shared procurement outcomes.
Represent Council in professional procurement networks and industry discussions.
- Continuous Improvement & Reporting:
Contribute to the design, implementation, and improvement of procurement processes, tools, and reporting.
Compile and implement the Forward Procurement Plan and provide regular reporting on progress, risks, and outcomes.
- Professional Development & Training:
Develop and deliver training and support programmes for staff to build understanding and compliance with procurement policies and processes.
Support the professional development and career planning of procurement staff.
The Details
- This is a fixed term contract at Level 7 for 12 months from 5 January 2026 to 5 January 2027.
- The successful applicant will report to Grace Clark, Strategic Procurement Manager.
