Food Services Assistant – Kitchen Hand

About the RoleSt Peters Lutheran College is seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Hand to join our Food Services team. Working across Senior School Café and the Upper Primary Tuckshop, you will support food handling, customer service, catering activities, and daily retail operations while maintaining high standards of food safety and service. This permanent term-time position is suited to an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering a professional and welcoming experience for students, staff, and visitors.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide friendly and efficient customer service, including taking orders and serving customers. Prepare, package, and label food products in accordance with food safety requirements. Operate espresso coffee machines and assist with beverage preparation. Process point-of-sale transactions, cash handling, and retail sales accurately.Set up, stock, and maintain retail service areas, including the Upper Primary Tuckshop. Support food production activities and comply with the College's food safety and workplace health and safety requirements. What You BringDemonstrated knowledge of food safety, food handling, and hygiene practices within a food service environment. Previous experience in food services, hospitality, catering, café, tuckshop, or retail food operations (preferred). An I'm Alert Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement. Experience providing quality customer service to a diverse range of customers and stakeholders. Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements, safe chemical handling, and safe use of catering equipment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Proven ability to prioritise tasks, work flexibly, and meet deadlines in a busy retail food setting.Physical capacity to perform the inherent requirements of the role, including manual handling activities.Current Blue Card (or the ability to obtain and maintain one) and the right to work in Australia. Commitment to the College's Christian ethos and values.About UsSt Peters Lutheran College is a Co-Educational Day and Boarding School of the Lutheran Church located on 52 acres just 7 kilometres from Brisbane CBD. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service, including taking orders and serving customers.

What You Bring
