Its purpose is to enhance learning by:Providing opportunities for our students to experiment, take risks, appreciate failure and transform ideas into realityProviding open-ended experiences in which students can create something of their own design and to which they feel connectedPreparing our students for the future through a landscape of creativity, new technologies, design and engineeringEngaging students in problem-solving through hands-on design, art, technology and constructionPromoting an innovative blend of disciplines that can ignite creative thinking and spark new inventionTHE POSITIONThe Makerspace Manager develops and positions the Makerspace as a thriving, safe, functional, and well-maintained space that is used by all areas of the College and is complemented by industry experts, ultimately leading to our students pursuing non-traditional careers in STEAM. The Makerspace Manager will:Develop a strategy to increase interest and use of the Makerspace across all areas of STEAM by staff, students, and industry expertsCreate high-profile industry exposure for the College through collaboration with highly-regarded industry professionalsCollaborate with staff to support their existing industry relationshipsActively liaise and collaborate with other Makerspaces and professional networksIdentify and promote opportunities that expose staff and students to design thinking, diverse equipment, resources, and experts to encourage the pursuit of non-traditional pathways, and skill transfer across disciplinesGrow staff and student creative self-efficacy in exploring the capabilities of equipment to enhance their confidence in design and innovationContinually pursue opportunities and training for staff to develop skills and knowledge in equipment use and capabilities through experimentation, professional development, and consultation with industry expertsOversee full compliance of the space and its facilities, including training, OH&S, servicing and accreditation requirementsIdentify new technologies and uses for the space that will continue to enhance and deliver real-world learning for our students, preparing business cases for consideration and implementationSELECTION CRITERIAEssentialSignificant experience in the use of laser cutters, vacuum forms, 3D printers, and conventional toolsProficiency in the use of 3D design software eg.
