An opportunity exists for an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead and motivate the team in Brisbane's renowned Walnut Restaurant. About the Business Royal on the Park hotel, a 4 ½ star independent property, located opposite the picturesque City Botanic Gardens. Renowned for its warm atmosphere, professional team spirit and exceptional customer service.As manager of the Walnut Restaurant, you will report directly to the Food & Beverage Manager and be responsible for overseeing operations of our Walnut Restaurant & Lounge Bar. You will create, manage and shape the Identity of the Walnut Restaurant. You will possess strong hotel experience and exceptional customer service skills.The RoleWith the support of the Food & Beverage Manager, the Restaurant Manager is responsible for:Training and mentoring Restaurant team members to ensure exemplary service is delivered to our guests each, and every timeEnsuring the team is thoroughly versed in menus and wine listsLiaising with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager to develop and implement menusControlling all operating costs including labour and beverage costs within budgetary constraintsMonitoring department rosters in line with budgets and projected occupancyRegular revision of policies and procedures to increase department efficiencyDeveloping strategies and marketing concepts to increase covers and maximise revenue, especially during off-peak peak periodsBuilding and maintaining relationships with regular clients and guests Launch and manage promotions and special events such as Valentine’s Day and Mothers' Day. Skills and experienceA minimum of 5 years' experience in a la carte Restaurant supervisionSignificant experience in training and mentoring teamsKnowledge of Micros and reporting functions is a distinct advantageAbility to manage a diverse client baseExperience maintaining a departmental budget while controlling expenses, including wagesExperience in managing promotions and special eventsStrong knowledge of the hospitality industry and current trends.Sound computer literacy including sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.Strong oral and written communication.Ability to build strong relationships with team members and Department Managers.Excellent personal presentationAttention to detail and excellent organisational and time management skillsAvailability to work a variety of hours including breakfast, lunch and dinner servicesRMLV and Approved Manager’s certification essentialJob benefits and perksThe successful candidate will enjoy excellent working conditions, career development and training opportunities.
