Health Administrator


The RoleWe seek a well spoken, service-focused individual with excellent interpersonal and computer skills to provide health administration support across the school.This is a newly created full time ongoing position commencing in January 2022.The Health Administrator assists with promoting and protecting the health of the students through effective administration processes. Reporting to the Vice Principal you will also work closely with Heads of Sections and other administration staff to provide effective and confidential health administration. Key responsibilities include: Student Health Management PlansOversee the process of ensuring student anaphylaxis management plans, asthma action plans and other health condition plans are up to date in each section, including student Epipen informationLiaise with parents to ensure they provide the school with up to date information in relation to their child’s action and management plansLiaise with each Head of Section and relevant Administration staff to ensure they have up to date information about their students’ management plansMaintain accurate and confidential student records.First Aid administrationEnsure the smooth running of First Aid across the school. Please note this is not a nursing function and involves the following:Liaise with training providers and organise annual 1st aid training across the schoolMaintain accurate records of all staff 1st Aid qualificationsLiaise with HR&OHS Coordinators to ensure new teachers to the school are accredited with 1st aid Level 2 and Anaphylaxis/Asthma, booking additional training as required.Order all 1st aid supplies for the school and monitor and report on usage to the school leadershipAudit all 1st aid rooms and AEDs on each campus at the start of each term and replenish/replace equipment and stock where needed. Establish and maintain a system to effectively manage the school epipens, epipen bags, asthma kits and 1st aid kits, including regular checks with sections and arranging for restocking of first aid kits, in liaison with administration and sports staff.Organise 1st aid kits and epipens for buses for excursions and events, including large or whole school events (eg. One School Day, Church Services).Complete an annual anaphylaxis risk assessment, in collaboration with the HR&OHS CoordinatorsKeep up to date on the latest legislation for 1st Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis and recommend updates to the 1st aid and anaphylaxis policies and protocols, and the 1st aid handbook as required.Mental Health First AidAct as a Mental Health 1st Aider for staff and students as required, liaising with School Psychologists, Heads of Section and coordinators.Deliver Mental Health 1st aid training, as requiredImmunisation ProgramFacilitate the school-based immunisation program, organising immunisations for staff and students as requiredWorkplace SafetyFollow School policies and safe working proceduresEnsure all health and safety regulations are adhered to within your designated areaComply with purchasing guidelines for health and safety when ordering medical suppliesReport any equipment or situation that is hazardous or has the potential to affect health and safetyChild SafetyEnsure adherence to all child safety standards and mandatory reporting requirements to support student wellbeingComplete training to maintain compliance with all child safety legislation, standards and regulationsReport all matters related to child safety immediatelyAbout youYou will have a high level of initiative and personal accountability, be honest, trustworthy, reliable and genuinely interested in the school, its students and families and the school community. You will demonstrate: Relevant experience, with education sector experience of benefit Advanced administrative skills across Microsoft Office suite, and Synergetic experience would be of benefit Effective communication skills to liaise with parents, staff, students and providers Excellent time management and organisational skills and ability to multi-task Sound problem-solving skills A commitment to child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children with diverse needs and backgroundsConfidence working autonomously and in a team setting to produce quality outcomes 1st aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Qualifications Mental Health 1st Aid, or willingness to complete training, up to instructor accreditation level Current Drivers’ Licence, a valid Working With Children Check and National Criminal Record Check, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.Evidence of full vaccination for COVID-19.The school offers generous employment benefits, including 2 weeks Bonus Leave, in addition to annual leave.Further details about the role are available in the Position Description.The SchoolPenleigh and Essendon Grammar School has over 2800 students from K-12 at campuses in Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Keilor East.
