Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School is a large independent school associated with the Uniting Church of Australia. The school has over 2700 students from K-12 at campuses in Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Keilor East. We have outstanding staff, facilities and programmes to enhance student learning and wellbeing.An engaging, suitably qualified and experienced Minister or Deacon of the Uniting Church, or of another Christian faith, is sought to provide spiritual leadership and support for the school. You will lead school church services, provide pastoral support and teach some Religious Education classes to Middle School boys and/or girls from Years 7 to 9.About the Chaplaincy RoleAs a School Chaplain, you will be able to demonstrate your spiritual commitment and support for community activities. You will have a proven ability to support and inspire students in their spiritual education and wellbeing.You will provide advice and support to the Principal and the Senior Management Team and lead the staff in delivering the Christian values at the school. You are a vital member of the School’s wellbeing team caring for all members of the school community. Responsibilities also include attending school assemblies and working within our co-curricular program.About the Teaching RoleThe School Chaplain teaches Religious Education for approximately 12 lessons per week in the Middle Schools.About YouYou will be an engaging and experienced Chaplain and teacher of Religious Education.  You will have excellent communication and leadership skills, a caring, warm and pro-active approach, an understanding of the key issues in education and be willing to contribute to co-curricular activities.   You will be able to demonstrate the following skills and qualities:Active membership in the Uniting Church, or in another Christian churchDemonstrated experience in supporting student wellbeing and providing chaplaincy services, preferably within a school environmentAn inspiring and engaging speaker able to connect with students, staff and familiesHighly developed interpersonal skillsAbility to encourage and motivate students and establish care and connectedness with themEffective communication and organisational skillsStrong curriculum knowledge, with a desire to develop curriculumA desire to collaborate with other teachers and actively engage in the broader life of the School.Current VIT registrationTo ApplyPlease provide a letter of application, resume and the names of at least two referees to Mrs Simone Fisher, Director of Human Resources via the link below.Please see the position description for further details.Applications are due by 25 February 2019. Position Description AUD Australia - VIC Melbourne - All locations Western Suburbs Keilor East 3033
