About Menzies:As one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses, Menzies School of Health Research continues to translate its research into effective partnerships and programs in communities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. About the position:RHDAustralia supports the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Australia. RHDAustralia is based at the Menzies School of Health Research and is funded under the Australian Government’s Rheumatic Fever Strategy.The Champions4Change (C4C) program is a culturally safe support program for people living with ARF and RHD. With support from RHDAustralia, the program is run by people from across Australia with the lived experience of ARF and RHD, designed and led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. The Champions support each other, advocate for ending RHD and design education and awareness programs for those in their own communities.With broad direction from the RHDAustralia Senior Cultural Advisor, the C4C Project Coordinator will contribute to the conceptual development of the C4C program using experience-based, co-design approaches, and will implement core components of the program: resource development, training and education and evaluation. The C4C Project Coordinator will build and nurture relationships with the Champions and support them by providing, or brokering access to, the tools and skills they need to achieve their goals and sustain and grow the C4C program.This position is designated for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. The successful applicant will have:Tertiary qualifications with at least four years subsequent relevant experience (public health, health promotion, health care or education) or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Experience in project design and management, particularly in health, education or community engagement.Demonstrated knowledge of the social determinants of health for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a range of audiences including a multidisciplinary team and people from diverse cultures.Demonstrated experience working in a culturally responsive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities and organisations.Capacity to work independently, and as part of a team, with good organisational and time management skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.Strong record keeping skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and positive attitude.Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Experience with basic computer software applications including Microsoft Office Suite and internet browsers.Willingness and ability to undertake intrastate and interstate travel (sometimes by light aircraft or 4WD to remote communities) for up to 4 days per trip, approx. 6 times per year, generally as part of a team.Ability to maintain a Working with Children Clearance (OCHRE card).Contact: Catherine Halkon on email: catherine.halkon@menzies.edu.au   What we offer:6 weeks annual leaveOption to increase super to 14%Attractive salary package and benefits $111,196 - $119,626 per annum salary package (comprising gross salary $87,586 - $95,051 per annum, superannuation and salary packaging benefits).Closing date: 22 January 2021 For information on how to apply for this position and to obtain the Position Description and Selection Criteria please visit www.menzies.edu.au/careers or phone 08 8946 8626.  Position Description AUD Darwin
