At Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd., we are committed to fostering a culture that understands and values inclusion and diversity.The Opportunity:  Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has new exciting opportunities for a Blaster/Charge up at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia.  Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off.Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Blaster/Charge Up is responsible for the proper handling, storing, transporting and use of explosives, performing the assigned tasks while meeting safety standards, targets and deadlines to maximize productivity and profitability.Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Demonstrate commitment to adhere to all Mine site safety rules, procedures and regulations, while ensuring the safety of othersFollow instructions or diagrams, depending on the drill pattern to determine explosives quantities and development face timingAssemble primer charges using selected non-electric detonators, detonating cords and other materialsLoad explosives in blast holes as required (using equipment or by hand)Operate and maintain main blasting wire/leads to surface blasting locationHandle, store and transport explosives and accessories in accordance with standard procedures, legislation and regulations, ensuring maximum safetyEnsure working area is safe for personnel and equipment to perform duties, including but not limited to, check scaling or rehabilitation, ensuring lanyards are in good order and used when requiredEnsure explosives day use, magazine and stock take logs are completed accurately and correctlyConduct pre blast and post blast re-entry inspectionsEnsure that equipment is used in accordance with training providedEnsure that the equipment used is maintained in good operating condition at all timesDocument reports detailing work performed, problems diagnosed, pre checks on all equipment and machinery used in the day and all other required shift paperworkImmediately report problems/failures that may impact the team, or the company, to your Shift SupervisorMaintain and demonstrate a professional and courteous relationship with employees, subcontractors, the client and all other personnelPractice good general housekeeping in the work area and equipmentMaintain a valid Driver’s License; manual transmission experience an assetUnderstand and comply with all PPE requirements in work areasOther duties may be assigned by your Supervisor, as required Skills and Experience:Minimum High School Diploma or equivalencyPreferred; 2-5 years’ experience in underground miningPreferred; 2 years’ experience in a Blaster role undergroundPossess and maintain current Blasters Ticket in British ColumbiaOut of province equivalent will be consideredThe ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, cross-cultural environment with high degree of professionalism and self-motivation is essentialProven ability to recognize and follow verbal and written instructionsAble to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are metMust have good radio etiquette and strong communications skillsEagerness to learn and growPreferred; experience with Maclean blasters truck/basket. Experience with ANFO & emulsion blasting products Work ConditionsAbility to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off – working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotationWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positionsDuties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 poundsManual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are requiredExtreme weather conditionsNoise level in the work environment is moderate to highWhat we offer:  Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. can offer you a role where you will be challenged and valued for your skills and experience.
