Working alongside the Managing Editor – Events & Branded Content and reporting into the Head of Content, this role will largely be responsible for the content on the Mumbrella website and our range of newsletters including the highly read daily newsletter.The role is also responsible for managing a part of the Content & Editorial team, supporting the growth of these team members in their roles in a positive and productive manner and ensuring that Mumbrella grows its reputation as the leading source of news for the media and marketing industry.Key to this role is building a strong reputation in the industry that allows you to dictate the news agenda with accurate, first-to-market, in-depth news and analysis that the industry can only get from Mumbrella.You will also engage in opportunities to curate event content and participate in on-stage moderation as required. You will develop an expert insight into the media and marketing industry, becoming a leading source of knowledge for the business and its stakeholders.This is a key role in the Mumbrella Content & Editorial team. Responsibilities includeLeading the Mumbrella news & analysis agendaLeading the creation of the various newsletters Mumbrella sends outNews gathering around the media and marketing industry in AustraliaWriting - both short and long formAbility to edit the work of the news & analysis team as well as provide practical feedback for them to improve their skillsA knack for creating sharp, eye-catching headlinesContributing to Mumbrella events and awards, including content curation and moderating on stageBuilding out Mumbrella’s content offering across multimedia platforms (including but not limited to podcasts, video and face-to-face)Representing Mumbrella in the market and at industry functionsBuilding the Mumbrella brand in the markets it serves and beyondSpeaking on the Mumbrellacast podcast when required to provide insights into the media and marketing industryWorking with the team to ensure Mumbrella is up-to-date and free of typos and legalsWorking with the team to monitor the comment stream and ensure comments are neither offensive nor libellous and conform to Mumbrella’s strict comment moderation policyWorking with the sales team to identify revenue-generating opportunities and help capitalise on themManaging the roster of journalists to ensure the newsdesk is always staffed About you Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within the media and marketing industryExcellent communication skills, both written and oralSuperior attention to detail, particularly excellent copy editing skillsStrong analytical and research skillsAbility to manage timelines and meet deadlinesAbility to establish strong professional relationships with senior industry leadersAbility to lead a small team of content and editorial professionals and provide them with career and output guidancePrevious experience writing about the media and marketing industry is an advantage but not necessary - an understanding of how the media and marketing industry works, isProven investigative skillsSolid understanding of publishing lawMultimedia skills and experience relating to podcast editing is advantageousCommitment and ability to develop a stable of sources for exclusive storiesAbility to work well with a team and support those around you Why work for us?As you embark on your new career with us we will give you the tools you need to succeed and provide you with training and support to get you up to speed quickly.
