Reporting into the Managing Editor - News & Analysis, the role requires someone who has a passion for breaking news, an intense interest in the media and marketing industry, a love of creating content across multiple mediums and a great eye for detail. You will join a dynamic, fast moving team, creating market leading content with significant insight and detail.You will focus on creating news stories and analysis pieces, particularly for and our daily newsletter, work hard to build a solid list of trusted industry contacts and aid the managing editor - news & analysis, in setting the news agenda for Mumbrella.You will also engage in opportunities to curate event content and participate in on-stage moderation as required. You will develop an expert insight into the media and marketing industry, becoming a leading source of knowledge for the business and its stakeholders. Responsibilities includeNews gathering around the media, marketing and advertising industry in AustraliaReading, writing and researching features and articlesContent curation tasks and responsibilities for conferences within assigned areas including follow-up tasks surrounding that content on Mumbrella ProContributing to Mumbrella events and awards, including content curation and moderating on stageBuilding out Mumbrella’s content offering across multimedia platforms (including but not limited to podcasts, video and face-to-face)Speaking on the Mumbrellacast podcast when required to provide insights into the media and marketing industryContact, interview and research sourcesReceive assignments and investigate news leads/tipsResearch and stay on top of market trends, movements and issuesStep in for the managing editor - news & analysis to create the daily newsletter and lead the news & analysis team when requiredAbout you Minimum two years’ experience in a similar rolePrevious experience writing about the media and marketing industry is an advantage but not necessary - an understanding of how the media and marketing industry works, isAbility to work well under pressure and meet deadlinesSuperior attention to detail, particularly excellent copy editing skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsProven investigative skillsMultimedia skills and experience relating to podcast editing is advantageousStrong analytical and researchSolid understanding of publishing lawCommitment and ability to develop a stable of sources for exclusive storiesAbility to work well with a team and support those around you Why work for us?As you embark on your new career with us we will give you the tools you need to succeed and provide you with training and support to get you up to speed quickly.
