We’re looking for a proactive Quality Assurance Advisor to join our team at Vales Point Power Station. In this pivotal role, you’ll help shape a strong quality culture across the site, ensuring that every task completed by employees and contractors is safe, compliant, and of the highest standard. Your work will drive continuous improvement, enhance compliance and assurance processes, and contribute to operational efficiency; helping the station deliver reliable, high-quality energy every day.
What You’ll Do:
- Quality Assurance: Conduct audits, reviews, and compliance checks across safety, environment, operations, assets, and maintenance. Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor Work Practices: Guide employees and contractors to ensure work aligns with quality standards, safety systems, and legislative requirements.
- Develop and Maintain Systems: Implement and maintain quality control systems, performing routine inspections to keep processes efficient, compliant, and effective.
- Analyse Performance: Review quality data and metrics to uncover insights, support continuous improvement, and enhance system reliability.
- Support Work Planning: Contribute to the development and review of Work Packages, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Job Modules to ensure clarity, compliance, and effectiveness.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with production, maintenance, engineering, and other teams to resolve quality issues and embed quality standards into all operations and maintenance activities.
- Capture Lessons Learned: Document and update lessons from investigations, projects, outages, and routine work to strengthen organisational knowledge and best practices.
- Coach and Train: Provide guidance and training to staff and contractors on structured problem-solving, quality systems, compliance procedures, and reporting tools.
- Facilitate Communication: Ensure consistent application of quality and compliance processes across operations, maintenance, assets, and contractors.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Maintain accurate documentation of quality assurance activities and implement corrective actions and improvement strategies for non-conformances.
What You’ll Bring
- A trade qualification (mechanical, electrical, or welding) or tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Experience in quality assurance, quality control, safety, or inspection within heavy industry, power generation, utilities, or a similar environment.
- Certificate IV or higher in Quality Management (desirable but not essential).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, with auditing qualifications such as ISO Management Systems Auditing highly regarded.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and confidence in managing registers and reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organisational, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, work packages, and technical documentation.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and contractor groups.
