About the Opportunity
In this hands-on role, you’ll perform a wide range of manual tasks and operate heavy machinery in a dynamic outdoor environment, helping maintain the infrastructure that keeps our community moving. You’ll work outdoors, contribute to vital infrastructure, and be part of a team that makes a real difference in the community.
You will make an impact by
- Performing maintenance and construction tasks across road reserves, including drainage, concreting, signage, and street sweeping.
- Safely operating plant machinery such as skid steers, excavators, tip trucks, and street sweepers.
- Carrying out manual tasks like lifting, raking, and digging.
- Conducting regular inspections and maintenance of equipment.
- Assessing work sites for hazards and applying appropriate risk controls.
- Following OH&S policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
What you will bring
- Construction Induction Card.
- Competence in operating heavy mechanical plant and vehicles over 8 tonnes (MR licence or higher).
- Strong understanding of civil maintenance techniques.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Confidence using digital tools like tablets for scheduling and communication.
- A commitment to Cardinia’s values: teamwork, respect, accountability, communication, and customer focus.
Please note, you will also need to
- Commit to obtaining -within 3 months of being eligible- an upgrade to a Heavy Rigid Victorian Driver Licence category.
- Commit to obtaining – within 3 months of being eligible - an upgrade to a Heavy combination Victorian Driver Licence category.
Cardinia will allow paid work time to achieve this but will not reimburse any costs.
