Packaging Technologist

About the roleWe are currently looking for an experienced Packaging Technologist to join our collaborative and supportive R&D team.As a technical subject matter expert, your primary responsibility will be to know and own packaging specifications at BE Campbell. You will project manage the technical feasibility and commercialisation of new packaging formats, new specifications as well as changes to existing packs and specifications.You will also be required to understand the competitive packaging environment, proactively tackle sustainability targets and identify innovative packaging solutions that supports our business to live its purpose - enriching lives through wholesome food.Your new role will include:Assessing feasibility and viability of new packaging materials and changes to existing materialsLeading and organising all relevant trials and coordinating with the cross-functional teamsProviding support to engineering teams when a change to packaging is requiredUpdating and maintaining packaging specifications both internal and externalParticipating in project scoping’s and product development for new materials and packaging formatsEstablishing and building internal relationships with the procurement teams and external partnerships with Packaging VendorsUnderstanding sustainability considerations and familiarisation with PREP and the APCO 2025 targetsAbout UsEstablished in 1969, we have grown to be one of Australia's largest family owned meat operations, supplying supermarkets, restaurants, retail butchers, small-goods producers and export channels.We employ over 600 staff and are proud to have won Woolworths Meat Supplier of the Year for 2011, 2012 and 2017.Our leading-edge manufacturing processes and dedicated team produce high quality food products across a range of fresh categories. We operate two sites located in Western Sydney.About youThis role will suit a visionary and creative thinker with sound knowledge of packaging materials and technology.  You are a highly organised individual with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.  Your ability to work under pressure and efficiently adapt to changes will see you thrive in this fast-paced role!To be successful in the role you will come with:Minimum 2 – 5 years’ experience in a similar roleTertiary qualifications in a Science or Engineering related fieldPrevious work experience in FMCGStrong verbal and written communication skillsProficient within all Microsoft ApplicationsPrevious Meat industry experience (desirable)NOTE: It is a requirement of BE Campbell for all employees to be fully vaccinated.
