Technical Officer

ATCO's Australian operations are headquartered in Perth, Western Australia and specialise in creating innovative, customer focused energy and infrastructure solutions. ATCO owns and operates Western Australia's largest gas distribution network with more than 750,000 connection points and 14,000 kilometres of pipelines. ATCO also operates two progressive power generation stations - in Adelaide and the Pilbara. These facilities collectively generate 266 megawatts of power, providing energy for thousands of public sector, domestic, industrial and commercial consumers across the country.ATCO is looking for a Technical Officer with some experience in the Construction, Utilities and/or Energy Sector. The position will be responsible for assisting with documenting and testing of materials, and assisting design, sourcing, and selection of equipment used within the ATCO gas network; providing technical support for continuous improvement projects, Management of Change requests, and revision of affected documentation, under direction of the Technical Services Engineer (Materials & Equipment).What you will contribute to:Assists with coordination of materials testing and equipment design change and continuous improvement projects—ensuring appropriate technical review, testing regimes, and implementation processes are realised.Supports Management of Change requests through material/tooling testing and equipment design improvements.Provides technical review and revision assistance for Safe Work Instructions, Technical Specifications, Technical Notices and related materials & equipment technical support documentation.Provides support to all ATCO field operations for materials & equipment application and implementation issues, while ensuring safety and compliance to Gas Distribution Safety case.Ensures actions in Risk Management Action Plans (RMAP’s) are completed within agreed timeframes.Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers of ATCO gas network materials & equipment to facilitate management of change process in relation to quality control/assurance issues and continuous improvement projects,Implements the Risk Management Framework to: effectively identify, assess and act on any identified or potential risks, and; execute responsibilities within work practices to meet business objectives.Assists the Chairperson and provides technical support and advice for the operation, activities and priorities of the Technical Committee.About you:Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Physical Sciences.Minimum three (3) years technical/ engineering experience in manufacturing, equipment maintenance, gas pipeline/utilities, petroleum/petrochemical or related fields.Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and deliver excellent customer service.Strong analytical skills, mechanical aptitude, with high attention to detail.Tooling or related mechanical design experience desirable. Experience with CAD desirable.Highly organised with proven time management skills.Demonstrated computer skills competency.
