Production Specialist (Operator/Maintainer)

We have an opportunity for an experienced Production Specialist (Operator/Maintainer) to join our Osborne Cogeneration (Combined Cycle) Power Plant on a permanent, full-time basis, working a continuous rotating shift.Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the continuous operation of boiler, turbine and associated plant, including responding to plant upsets and failures. Further, you will utilise your skill set to support and participate directly in the ongoing maintenance, administration and management of the station.  What you will contribute to:Operating and maintaining the station (including high pressure boiler and turbine plant) in a safe and efficient manner within license conditions and respond to plan upsets and failuresPreparing and submit daily nominations and rebids to the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) holderEnsuring plant is dispatched in line with the PPA holder requirements as well as the Australian Energy Market (AEM) rules and instructions from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO)Investigating, researching, troubleshooting and recommending solutions to operational problems with the aim of returning plant to service as soon as possible (where it has shutdown unexpectedly)Developing and authorising work permits associated with all maintenance and operationsImplementing and clearing isolations associated with all maintenance and operationsDeveloping standard operating procedures and maintenance procedures as directedCarrying out routine, planned and unplanned maintenance tasks as directed, and repair/maintain equipment up to level of skill and qualificationActing as permit holder for work conducted on site. This includes, at times, being responsible for the work performed by contractors and other service providersMonitoring spares and consumable levels and take action to correctParticipating in, and occasionally managing, station projects. [The size and complexity of the project will vary depending on the individuals skill set]About you:Possess a tertiary, trade, or other suitable engineering qualification.Minimum 5 years power station or similar industry experienceHold an intermediate (or advanced) Boiler Operator ticketHold a Turbine Operator ticketTake a flexible approach to achieve resultsThe ability to work effectively in a small team and adapt to a changing, multi-skilled environmentGood written and oral communication skillsA self-starterATCO fosters an inclusive workplace culture where everyone is treated fairly and with respect.
