ATCO owns and operates Western Australia's largest gas distribution network, with over 750,000 connection points and 14,000km of pipelines.
We have an exciting opportunity for keen candidates interested in learning the nuts and bolts of maintaining ATCO fixed facilities all over Perth. You will join our specialised Facilities Maintenance Team as a Field Technician from our Jandakot depot.
What You Will Do:
- Undertake maintenance and construction activities associated with the gas distribution network, including valves and end-of-line facilities (e.g. meter sets, regulator sets and pressure reduction stations) in line with our Asset Management Plan and capital works program.
- Collect gas samples for odorant and gas compositional analysis across the gas distribution network.
- Perform leak test, manual valve isolation, pipework purging, depressurisation and venting essential for safe and effective pipeline, system, or equipment maintenance work.
- Operate machinery, equipment and tools in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Undertake external inspections of gas distribution assets and record/report any corrosion, integrity, performance and functionality issues in accordance with company procedures.
- Participate in the "24/7 On Call Roster" for the Facilities Maintenance team at nominated intervals throughout the business cycle (minimum of 6 weeks per annum).
Skills and Experience:
- An experienced maintenance technician in the utilities or production industry, particularly in fitting and assembling pipework, performing inspections and maintenance and diagnosing/troubleshooting operational problems.
- Holds a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Qualified Mechanical Fitter) preferred.
- Understanding fluid dynamics in gas pressure and flow regulation, the Joule-Thompson effect, and plant operation /process control will be highly regarded, but not mandatory.
- Familiar with the permit-to-work process
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with reasonable customer service skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- First Aid Certificate
- Construction White Card
- Working in Confined Spaces Certificate
- Basic Worksite Traffic Management Certificate
- Current Drivers Licence
